On the Nativity
“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.”

God is the Giver who gives all, for He is the source of all good. However, we often see the creation giving the Creator! For example, in the story of the Lord’s Resurrection, the women offered him spices, while Joseph of Arimathea offered Him a new tomb. And Virgin Mary offered everything.
In the Old Testament, we read that many gave offerings to the Lord. The first one is Abel the Righteous. He gave a burnt offering to the Lord of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat (Gen 4). Abraham, the father of fathers also proceeded to offer his only son. And through generations many others gave offerings, and God accepted them so long as they were from a pure heart.
