We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic educational program Leader and coordinator to plan and
implement an ongoing program of activities that promote the social, emotional, cognitive and physical
development of each and individual child, in accordance with the culture and language school readiness
screening and home visit as well as other supports to enhance early child development. A candidate would be
working directly and collaboratively with RATAKS Parish councilor, with Charitable and Health department
director, RATAKS Educational site staff leader, parents, students, and community service providers and Sunday
School educators. This is a part time position (0.5 FTE) which requires working on Saturday and Sunday.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Work directly and collaboratively with administrators, school site staff, parents, students, and community
service providers to assist in the identification and development of procedures and agreements with schools,
community agencies and resources that promote quality and equitable improved healthy family and provides
quality education recourses for the student.
• Develop comprehensive and inclusive strategies to address student and their family goal achievement;
monitor and evaluate student academic progress; assist students in accessing appropriate educational tools
which enhance basic skills; help students solve personal and family issues; refer students to MPS programs,
local community resources and regional community services.
• Work with staff to identify professional staff development needs by planning, organizing, and facilitating
programs that improve staff effectiveness, and are consistent with instructional goals.
• Research and write grants and proposals for development and expansion of district programs that impact
RATAKS Sunday School success for students age 0‐9years old or birth to 3rd grade.
• Communicate with parents, students and staff to convey pertinent information while maintaining
confidentiality of personal information; answer questions and explain the program rules as well as work
continuedly to find growth in each family and their children.
Knowledge of
• Applicable policies, procedures and regulations covering specific areas of assignment.
• Public education issues, procedures, and practices that influence school engagement for youth.
• Methods and techniques for working with students with disabilities and special needs.
Job Description:
- Promote a resourceful early childhood and family program
- Develop and facilitate workshops for a variety of early education audiences
- Develop and implement research‐based instructional practices in classrooms
- Identify and provide research‐based early literacy resource materials for use during study groups
- Provide professional development, coaching, home visiting, prepares and plans teaching objectives,
and screening and related services to family and children 0‐3rd in a classroom or in a Parent child and
youth program (PCY)
- Promote a resourceful early childhood and family program that is culturally responsive; work within
the community, counties and close by school districts to implement a culturally relevant teaching
strategy that opens equitable educational places for minority students
- Implementing the MDH academic agenda to provide a world class education for all TAKS parent child
and youth (PCY) students; and work closely with schools and many other departments at MPS and
Twin city districts to ensure that the work is focused on the following areas: accelerated academic
achievement for all students, shared accountability, provide culturally relevant screening for early
childhood program, prepare children for school readiness, professional development for volunteers
and staff members, and creating respectful/welcoming environments.
- Assist building teams in using data to drive and refine instructional practices
- Assist schools in identifying exemplary supplemental and intervention early learning materials
- Support planning and communicate TAKS perisher’s council information to building staff
- Increase parent and community awareness of the literacy, early childhood screening benefits
- Assist teams in examining cultural differences and their impact on student achievement
Job Requirements:
‐ Bachelor's degree
‐ Three (3) years of experience as an early childhood or K‐12 school in an urban setting
‐ Experience in providing professional development, including coaching (preferred)
‐ Experienced with special Education and behavior management (preferred)
‐ Culturally competent
‐ Experience as special education teacher or recourse room educator
‐ Bilingual in Amharic and English
‐ Eligible to work in the United States
