Duration: 3 month [Oct until Dec. 31, 2020] with potential to extend into 2021 based on grant availability.
We are seeking for COVID-19 Community Coordinators who can serve as coordinators and facilitators for missions and work assignments across the COVID-19 response in the Ethiopian Community in Minnesota, as well as serve as the point-of-contact for a broad variety of stakeholders and help connect them to the appropriate resources. This is a full-time position which requires working from Monday to Friday (with occational weekend coverage). If full-time candidates are not available, part-time candidates will be considered.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Perform remote work in support of the COVID-19 response related to resource finding, and supports community needs.
• Communicate concerns, gaps and barriers in the community with MDH and local public health agencies.
• Conduct COVID-19 resource interviews, including assessing cases and contacts for services in support of connecting them with identified resource needs.
• Follow all scripts, policies and procedures provided through training from MDH or from Frequently Asked Questions published by MDH or local public agencies.
• Record new questions from callers not found in FAQ or available resources and escalate them to content experts or supervisors to get appropriate solutions.
• Ensure compliance with handling of confidential information and privacy of all clients.
• Support COVID-19 community testing sites by planning and assisting in interpreting and teaching post testing instructions.
• Identify common needs amongst COVID-19 patients and search for local solutions. This could include food banks, mental health services, visiting nurses, and other community programs helping patients in need and/or people in isolation or quarantine.
• Ensure that data is appropriately collected and entered into the data system provided by MDH.
• Support weekend coverage as needed.


JOB REQUIREMENTS:
‐ College degree in public health, nursing and allied health sciences, social services, graduating seniors who are interested in fast paced training on the job, or with related job experience.
‐ Deep understanding and knowledge of local community services and resources to advise clients who are calling via community hotline.
‐ Lived experience working with and/or representing the Ethiopian community members
‐ Proficient in speaking and writing in Amharic and Afaan Oromo are preferred.
‐ Eligible to work in the United States.
