Duration: 2.5 - 3 month [Oct until Dec. 31, 2020] with potential to extend into 2021 based on grant availability. We are seeking for an experienced accountant who will support accounting and financial reporting needs in support of the COVID Community Coordinator Grant.
This is a 10hr/week position which requires understanding and execution of TAKS' Accounting procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Assumes responsibility for post award contract/grant accounting thus ensuring compliance with funding source administrative guidelines, timely receipt of revenue and accurate submission of financial reports.
• Prepares journal entries related to contract/grant funding and completes detailed spreadsheets to bill and track contract/grant performance.
• Prepares accounting and financial report for the grant and ensures timely submission.
• Supports the program director and FCHP lead on reports to MDH, and TAKS accountant on any requests related to the grand funding expenditures.
• Researches issues, prepares invoices/ billings and collects funds for the support of restricted fund expenditures in collaboration with the TAKS Accountant.
• Coordinates with key stakeholders to support proper and timely expenditure of grant funds in compliance with applicable guidelines and budget deadlines.
• Develops positive working relationships to foster a collaborative environment for grant coordination and oversight.
• Maintains records and compiles year-end reports, work papers and analysis necessary for internal auditors in support of TAKS' Fiscal Year End audit.
• Performs a broad range of accounting tasks and verifies data for completeness and accuracy.
• Reviews transactions to ensure expenses are allowable per federal and funding agency guidelines.
• Attends trainings provided by MDH and that is relevant to the Accounting position
• Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
‐ College degree in Accounting
- Five years in a General Ledger position, performing a full range of accounting functions
- Ability to prepare and analyze financial statements
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
- Experience with a non-profit organization, fund accounting, or grants
- Experience in preparing financial statements to be audited
- Software: QuickBooks, Excel, and the ability to learn new applications
- Proficient in speaking and writing in English to generate reports and preferably have proficieny in Amharic.
